If You Were King for a Day...

May I introduce you to... KING FOR A DAY! They have been playing all over the place for five years and have just started taking voice lessons with me to build three-part harmonies into their songs.

KING QUIZ - POST ANSWERS TO COMMENTS
1. What would you do if you were king for a day?
2. What band do you think has the coolest harmonies ever?
3.Tell the truth, are harmonies easy for you to figure out, create, learn, sing?  Or do they confuse the heck out of you?

  1. 1. If I were king for a day I would knight Paul McCartney. Oh... wait... Well then I guess I'd have Paul play a concert for me and the castle and then I'd get to sing with him and he'd have me and Blue join his band and then I wouldn't need to be king anymore.

    2. The Beatles, of course. But there are many others. Simon & Garfunkel were great too. Kicking Daisies really has very cool vocal arrangements. Currently not too many bands do great harmonies live. Katie and Jordan (NEVER4GET) are getting the hang of it! My friend, Mike Mangini produced Diane Birch's album last year. It has AMAZING harmonies on it. You should listen, it's amazing.

    3. The more challenging they are to learn, the more I love them. I like to think I have a good ear for harmony. But then I meet Grammy winning songwriters/producers like The Manginius and I learn about how much I don't know yet!

  4. 1) have my own way, get a feeling of peace at the end of the day. then steal enough from the coffers to abscond somewhere else, play music all the time, and let someone else deal with being king.

    2) van halen is there any question? they're the reason i own all that spandex! i'm clearly not qualified to answer this

    3) easy to figure out, harder time singing em without some work. i'd argue the latter is an issue partially cause the dudes and dudettes grabbing the harmonies are usually playing an instrument at the same time. though i don't think removing the instrument would totally solve the problem for me
