What Are Your Goals?

Every year around this time I get jealous of everyone who gets to buy new notebooks and fall boots for school.  So I got out and buy some new notebooks and boots!

This time of year is a fresh start for all of us.  The year ahead is full of possibilities.

Disney's Next Big Thing

I couldn't tell anyone exactly what we were doing in Hollywood when I went to LA with Kicking Daisies early this month.

But now I can!

The band was chosen to be one of five acts who participate in Disney's "Next Big Thing" in September and October.  You'll be seeing Kicking Daisies on the Disney Channel (and hearing them on Disney Radio) starting September 15, 2010.

It is a competition to name one of the acts "Disney's Next Big Thing," so I'll keep you posted on how/when to vote once the context begins.  Last year's winner was All Star Weekend.

When we were in Hollywood Kicking Daisies did all the filming and interviews for the Next Big Thing and I got spend some time with the other artists.  We had a fun jam session on the bus back to the hotel one day - some of which I captured on video.  I'm not sure what I'm allowed to post from that so as I find it out I'll be in touch.

This entire experience has made me a better teacher and taught me a lot more about what it takes to make it to the next level.  

Can't wait to see you at your next lesson.  Let's make this school year one to remember.

I love this logo that Cait sketched!  We were in Jersey for a couple of days this week for some Kicking Daisies shows.  Cait was ready to break out the sketch pad as soon as we got to the hotel.  She came up with some cool ideas, then I asked her to turn the "V" into a dragonfly, and voila!  MMVS!

MM Vocal Studio grand opening in Fairfield, CT!

Hi everyone,

I'm so excited!  My new vocal studio is opening up in Fairfield, CT in just a couple of weeks!  It looks like it will be ready to go as early as Tuesday, September 7th, with some very special "grand opening" activities the following week.

It's a 300 square foot studio just minutes from the Post Rd in downtown Fairfield.  It will be fully equipped with a digital piano, mics, guitars, amps, instruments and even a drum kit for when you want to work your voice in a real band setting.

I have lots more news to share with you about workshops that will be offered this Fall, as well as new guidelines and programs for students in both my Stratford and Fairfield locations.   Follow this blog so you don't miss a thing.  And post your thoughts, questions, news or randomness to comments!
