Mel’s Vocal Program (MVP)
Requirements for Level 1 ~ ALL STUDENTS
A. Practice
Practice and assignments completed consistently for three months or more. Logs in at least twice per week to Melissa Mulligan’s blog to log practice time, questions, and achievements.

Five song projects (chosen by student and teacher) completed and recorded from the following genres:
One classical
One musical theater or “standard” or jazz song
Three in student’s chosen musical genre (up to two original student compositions accepted)

Count basic rhythms
Identify notes on a staff (treble and bass clef)

Pitch & Timing: ability to sing with karaoke track and/or basic accompaniment
Technique: ability to sing with proper breath support and with minimal throat, jaw or other tension. Ability to transition through "bridges" of range comfortably.
Registration: ability to sing in both lower and upper register
